The Museum →HMS Trincomalee

Europe's oldest warship on water

The grand centrepiece HMS Trincomalee, is at the heart of the action at Hartlepool's National Museum of the Royal Navy.
Built in Bombay, India in 1817 during the great 'Age of Sail' she was one of the last of Nelson's powerful frigates.

Visit today to see her masts, rigging and impressive 46 guns up close. From the fine Captain's quarters to the hold down below, history comes alive on every deck. While onboard should you have any questions speak to one of our guides who will be happy to help.

To find out more about the ship prior to your visit you can purchase one of our new guide books here. These can also be purchased in our shop onsite and on board the ship.
